Our pens are dual-chamber, so the powder ships dry and sealed. Here's the activation sequence from the guide printed inside every lid.
Read first. The steps below follow the activation guide printed inside the lid of every box. They cover assembly, mixing and storage for research use only — they are not dosing instructions and not guidance for human or veterinary use.
The pen ships with dry powder in one chamber and liquid in the other. You must combine and dissolve them first, by twisting the pen to activate it and then rolling it gently until the solution is clear.
If you dial or press before the powder is fully dissolved, the internal piston pushes against a solid powder cake — the liquid path is still blocked, and the pen jams mechanically. Once that happens it can't be forced. So: activate, roll until clear, then attach the needle and dial.
Open the box and remove the pen components. Insert the dual-chamber cartridge into the pen body. Every box also contains 10 × 30G sterile needles and alcohol pads.
Twist the pen body (or press it) firmly until the liquid and powder chambers combine — you'll feel a click. This releases the diluent into the powder. Do this before anything else; there's no BAC water to add and no loose powder to handle.
Gently roll the pen between your palms for about 60 seconds, until the solution is completely clear with no visible powder or cloudiness. Do not shake. Do not dial or press until it is fully dissolved — dialing against undissolved powder is the most common cause of a jammed pen.
Once mixed, the compound must be stored in a refrigerator between 2°C and 8°C. Do not freeze. Reconstitute only when you're ready to use it — that's the point of the dual chamber.
Screw on a fresh needle from the box until it's fully seated — snug, not loose. Use only the 30G needles supplied. A needle that's screwed on too loosely, or an incompatible needle whose tip is too short, won't pierce the cartridge seal, so nothing flows and the pen feels stuck. Then prime until a drop appears at the tip. Use a new needle each time.
Dial to your research units per your protocol. Clean the site with an alcohol pad, and dispose of needles and empty cartridges according to your local research-waste requirements.
Once the pen is activated, the peptide is dissolved into the pen's diluent to make a single solution. The dial turns in clicks, and each click dispenses a small, fixed volume — 0.03 mL. The dial goes up to 50 clicks per action. How much peptide that represents depends on the pen's strength, so pick your pen (or enter its figures) and everything below recalculates.
After mixing, the whole amount of peptide sits in the pen's total volume. Dividing one by the other gives the concentration — how much peptide is in every millilitre.

6.67 mg/mL × 0.03 mL = 0.2 mg per clickTo turn any amount in milligrams into clicks, divide by the amount per click. For example, on a 20 mg / 3 mL pen each click is 0.2 mg, so 5 mg works out to 25 clicks. The calculator below does it for whatever pen you've set above.

Verify your specific pen first. These figures assume each click dispenses 0.03 mL and the dial tops out at 50 clicks per action. If your pen is calibrated differently, enter its real figures above before relying on any conversion. Almost every stuck pen comes down to one of the following. Work through them in order before assuming the pen is faulty.
This is the most common cause. If you dial or press while there's still solid powder in the cartridge, the piston pushes against a powder cake with nowhere for the liquid to go, and the pen locks up.
Fix: make sure the pen was activated (chambers combined) and rolled until the solution is completely clear before you dial. If it's already jammed from pressing early, stop — forcing it won't clear it. Message us.
If the needle isn't screwed all the way on, its inner point may not reach through and pierce the rubber seal at the front of the cartridge. The liquid path never opens, so pressing does nothing.
Fix: remove the needle and re-attach a fresh one, screwing it on until it's fully seated. Then prime again until a drop appears.
A needle whose base thread doesn't match, or whose tip is too short, won't reach the seal either — same result as a loose needle.
Fix: use only the 30G needles supplied in the box. If you've run out, message us before substituting another needle.
If the powder is fully dissolved, the needle is correctly seated and compatible, and it still won't press, the front path is blocked and the plunger is pushing against trapped liquid (a hydraulic lock). This can't be forced by hand — it's like trying to push a syringe with the cap still on.
Fix: don't force it. Take a short video showing the needle attached and the pen not depressing, and send it to us on WhatsApp so we can identify the cause and sort a replacement if needed.
